How to stay Happy & Hopeful

This past week has been really difficult for me because I have been facing every problem or fear head on. Trust me this was not by my own choice, if I had things my way I would not get anything done or move on in life! I'm not going to go into detail about everything but I am going to say that I was feeling really down about life lately. Some days I wonder why everything is harder for me to achieve while others have it so easy, but after taking to one of my old friends I found out I wasn't the only one who was going though a tough time. Let me break it down for you starting with a little background story about me before I continue with how I learned to change my perspective on life. 

Background story (the short version) 

Okay so I'm 18 years old and have been in homeschool my whole life. This was a choice by my mother because I was a little baby when she made this decision. Throughout the years I learned that I was different from other kids. I was different because 1) I had to have an inhaler with me at all times because I had really asthma 2) I was shy 3) I didn't read or spell my grade level because of my minor dyslexia. Luckily I somehow managed to make good friends in my childhood, but as I got older the shyness increased thus kids started bullying me. This destroyed what was left of my confidence and made me second guess myself about everything.
Fast forward to 2011 and that's where I had my huge breakdown. First I was having some problems with my best friend (at the time) which resulted in a huge breakdown at a church retreat trip. Second my nana and Grandpa, from my dads side, moved in with us because he had Alzheimer's and she was recovering from cancer. It was a huge adjustment because I wasn't really close to them. Third I witnessed my grandpa's passing... by the way that's a long story that I might tell later on. Fourth my other granddad (from my moms side) died a few months later due to cancer. Fifth my mom ditched me my senior year and told me I had to teach myself because she wanted to live her life and not worry about teaching me anymore.
All of those things might not seem that bad to you but for me it was really difficult to get though. Somethings I  still have trouble forgetting and moving on, and just last week I got the news that my mom is kicking me out. From all the stress I recently developed some physical health issues... did I mention that I don't have health insurance? Anyways enough with the negative let me explain how I decided to move on and stay motivated.

Moving on: Staying Happy and Hopeful 

After the huge break down I realized if I wanted all the negativity out of my life I had to push it out, not welcome it. By welcoming it I mean doing stuff like listening to sad music ALL THE TIME and avoiding people/relationships. I also learned that the only way to get rid of a fear is to face it head on, doing this I  realized my fear wasn't unbearable and I was worrying about nothing.  But here's the specific list if you are also having a problem like mines  in any way. 

  • Realize that you are living and alive for a reason, and if someone you loved passed away they died because they completed their reason for living. 
  • Love yourself no matter what. There's only one of you and every flaw you have is there for a reason.
  • Don't be afraid to try something new.
  • Do the things that you enjoy doing. If you like skydiving, do it! 
  • Have time to relax and enjoy the small things in life.
  • Don't be afraid to fall in love. My boyfriend doesn't fix everything but it does help to have that special person you can tell anything to.
  • Surround yourself with positive people who are moving forward in life. It will help you do the same.
  • Smile, even if you are faking it. It will soon become a real smile :) trust me.
  • Believe it or not Yoga helps. 
  • For every achievement you accomplish reward yourself with a treat, this could be anything even taking time to sit down and finish that book you wanted to read. 
  • Last but not least, spend time exercising and going outside. Sunshine and physical activities help keeps the gloomy feelings away!
